A chronological list of the newest additions to the Jack London Collection.

October 30, 2006 Updating of information and adding to the pages continued through the year. Of special note is the Audio page for some new spoken word material. A major addition for researchers is the Jack London Newsletter Index and Guide by Jo Anne Sharpe.

January 25, 2006 After a good deal of work, some of it assisted by software but much of it manual labor, we made the transition from the Berkeley Digital Library SunSITE which has hosted the site since its inception (ca. 1996), and moved to a server kindly hosted by the Sonoma State University Library. Our new home is quite suitable given Jack London's connection with Sonoma County.

October 24, 2005 A new section on Family & Friends has been added, with brief biographies and bibliographies relating to key people in London's life.

January 17, 2005Curricular materials are now available on "The Call of the Wild." We have also reprinted Rodger Jacob's essay on whether Ragnar Redbeard was London. We also have added A Daughter of the Snows to the writings list, thanks to Dave Hartzell, who has posted it on his jacklondons.net site.

June 14, 2004 More photographs from Jack London State Park have been added, in two pages: The Beauty Ranch and The House of Happy Walls and the Wolf House Ruins.

May 26, 2004 Thanks to the contribution of David Reed, The Scarlet Plague has been added.

September 10, 2003 The Tables of Contents of the Jack London Journal were scanned by Ted Byrnes, with annotations by Dr. Clarice Stasz. This journal is a top source for recent scholarship, book reviews, and reproduction of previously unpublished manuscripts.

August 20, 2003 Another 13 images join the fifteen added on August 8 from Dr. Clarice Stasz.

August 8, 2003 Thanks to Dr. Clarice Stasz, fifteen new images have been added to our collection of Jack London images.

February 4, 2003 The Mutiny of the Elsinore and The Cruise of the Snark have been added.

December 23, 2002 The novel Little Lady of the Big House is now available in its entirety, thanks to the contribution of Dave Maddock.

December 19, 2001 A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document was added, to answer the most common questions those new to London and his life and work have.

August 19, 2001 Translations of the Jack London biography into Spanish and Euskera (Basque).

June 12, 2001 A new page on The Wolf House highlights photographs of the ruins of Jack's dream home.

January 29, 2001 Two additions: an assignment added to the section on Curriculum Materials Contributed by Teachers and a transcription of Jack London's Final Will.

October 19, 2000 A number of contributions to our section on Curriculum Resources Contributed by Teachers are now up and available.

May 15, 2000 A new section was created to hold Resources for Teachers. Anyone teaching London is encouraged to submit their lesson plans/curricular materials so that we can mount them here to share.

December 22, 1999 The short story collection On the Makaloa Mat is now available in its entirety.

December 20, 1999 The short story collection A Son of the Sun is now available in its entirety, including the illustrations from the first edition.

December 14, 1999 Revolution and Other Essays is now available in its entirety, as is the short story collection Dutch Courage and Other Stories.

November 2, 1999 The interface to the London images database has been improved with, among other things, links to many high-resolution versions.

September 14, 1999 The non-fiction work The Road, London's stories of his hobo days is now available with all of the first edition illustrations intact (mostly photographs with a few drawings).

August 3, 1999 The novel Michael, Brother of Jerry has been added.

February 22, 1999 An earlier version of the famous short story To Build a Fire is now available to allow comparison between the early version written for a juvenile audience, and the famous version written for adults that followed six years later.

January 19, 1999 A page discussing what is commonly called Jack London's Credo has been added, complete with a brief historical discussion by Dr. Clarice Stasz.

October 22, 1998 The short story collection Dutch Courage and Other Stories (published posthumously in 1922), was inaugurated with the story Dutch Courage. The frontispiece illustration, and the one illustration in the Dutch Courage story is included.

October 9, 1998 The collection of short pieces The Human Drift was added in its entirety: "The Human Drift," "Small-Boat Sailing," "Four Horses and a Sailor," "Nother That Ever Came To Anything," "That Dead Men Rise Up Never," "A Classic of the Sea," "A Wicked Woman (Curtain Raiser)," and "The Birth Mark (Sketch)".

October 6, 1998 The short story collection The God of His Fathers is now complete with the addition of "The Great Interrogation", "Which Make Men Remember," "Siwash," "The Man With the Gash," "Jan, the Unrepentant," "Grit of Women," "Where the Trail Forks," "A Daugter of the Aurora," "At the Rainbow's End," and "The Scorn of Women."

September 3, 1998 The short story collection Lost Face is now complete with the addition of "Lost Face," "Trust," "That Spot," "Flush of Gold," and "The Passing of Marcus O'Brien."

August 21, 1998 The novel The Valley of the Moon joins our collection, along with some photographs of the Sonoma Valley from the Carleton E. Watkins collection of California Heritage.

July 30, 1998 The short story collection The House of Pride & Other Tales of Hawaii is now complete with the addition of "Chun Ah Chun" and "The Sheriff of Kona."

July 27, 1998 The short story collection When God Laughs & Other Stories is now complete with the addition of "When God Laughs," "A Wicked Woman," "Created He Them," "Make Westing," "Semper Idem," "A Nose For the King," "The 'Francis Spaight'," and "A Curious Fragment."

April 16, 1998 The short story collection South Sea Tales is now complete with the addition of "The House of Mapuhi," "The Whale Tooth," "Yah! Yah! Yah!," "The Heathen," "The Terrible Solomons," "The Inevitable White Man," and "The Seed of McCoy."

March 4, 1998 A new section has been added to London's writings: Plays. The first one completed is The Acorn-Planter. This play is about the Nishinam tribe and their eventual encounter with explorers.

December 19, 1997 The short story collection The Faith of Men and Other Stories is now complete, with the addition of "A Relic of the Pliocene", "A Hyperborean Brew", "The Faith of Men", "Too Much Gold", "The One Thousand Dozen", "The Marriage of Lit-Lit", and "The Story of Jees Uck."

December 3, 1997 The short story collection Moon Face and Other Stories is now complete, with the addition of "Moon-Face," "The Leopard Man's Story," "Local Colour," "Amateur Night", "The Minions of Midas," "The Shadow and the Flash," and "Planchette."

December 2, 1997With the addition of "The Unparalleled Invasion," "The Enemy of All the World," "The Dream of Debs," "The Sea Farmer," and "Samuel," the short story collection The Strength of the Strong is now complete.

December 1, 1997The published speech The Tramp was added to the War of the Classes.

November 25, 1997Links were made between most of the stories in the Son of the Wolf collection to the page images of the Overland Monthly where the stories first appeared. These images are provided by the Making of America Project. A link was also created on the Journalism page to the piece called "The Impossibility of War" which also appeared in the Overland Monthly.

The full-length (all 46 chapters of it) novel joins our collection.

All the stories from The Night-Born have now been marked up, including "War," "The Mexican," and "To Kill a Man."

A new additon to the Bibliographies & Research Aids page. This listing of books, monographs, and special issues of scholarly journals covers some of the most recent contributions to the critical literature.

A new section has been started devoted to audio and video both from JL's lifetime as well as more contemporary material.

8/12/97Children of the Frost
All the stories from The Children of the Frost have now been marked up. Hopefully this will mark the beginning of an effort to rapidly make available the complete body of JL's work.

7/17/97Organizations and Announcements
A new section containing brief descriptions of and information about the many Jack London organizations throughout the world, as well as announcements of any pending Jack London events.

7/17/97Tales of the Fish Patrol
The short story collection Tales of the Fish Patrol has now been added in it's entirety. This collection, centered on the San Francisco Bay of London's youth, includes such classics as A Raid on the Oyster Pirates and The Siege of the 'Lancashire Queen'.

7/17/97Jack London's Works by Date of Composition
This chronological listing by James Williams pinpoints, as much as it is possible, the dates of composition for all of Jack London's writings, both fiction and non-fiction. A source bibliography is included.

2/12/97Jack London's Journalism
A section devoted to Jack London's journalism has been added to the writings area. It includes the author's The Story of an Eyewitness, his description of the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire, and Editorial Crimes, an early example of his emnity towards editors.

2/10/97Burning Daylight
The text of London's novel Burning Daylight is now illustrated with the original plates.

The short story collection The Red One is now complete, with the addition of The Hussy, Like Argus of the Ancient Times, and The Princess

2/4/97The Rise and Fall of Jack London in Poland
This essay charts the publishing history of Poland's favorite american author, examining the reasons for London's amazing popularity and sudden decline with the public, and analyzes the underlying forces in his chilly critical reception in the Polish academy.

12/20/96The Frank Putnam Letters
A collection of nine letters from Jack London to Frank Putnam relating to the pub lication of "The One Thousand dozen" that illustrate just how hard it was for a young writer to make it around the turn of the century.
